I'm a believer, Jack and Jill! I ran this course and never felt the pounding on my quads that downhill usually does. I felt so fast.  Was it the downhill? The oxygen from the trees? Was it the beauty of the mountains?  Don't know.  Just coming back every year"  -Maria

THE HALF MARATHON

A New York Marathon Qualifier (CLICK HERE for NY Marathon qualifying times)

USATF Certified Course #WA15002LB.  The race begins at the Marathon half.  Half marathoners will run the second half of the marathon course with a net drop of 1100 feet.  Runners will park at exit 38 off 1-90 and dropped at the end of the paved road where runners will walk 1 mile to the start up a scenic dirt road. Bus shuttles will return you to the parking area along the road post race.

Jack & Jill's Downhill Marathon offers the same fast course for the Jack and Jill Downhill Half Marathon.  The half is a point to point course and the course begins at the halfway mark of the marathon course.  Runners will run the bottom half of the marathon course with an 1100 foot net drop from start to finish.  The half course is USATF certified and valid as a NY qualifier.

Half Marathon runners will be bused from the finish area (the same finish area as the full marathoners) to the half marathon parking start area. Race morning, runners will need to hike up a one mile trail/road to the start area.  Trust us...this half marathon is worth the hike!

The DROP OFF or Parking

Half Marathon runners will take exit 38 off I-90, (R) on Homestead Way, drive 1.75 miles and park on Homestead way at the bottom of a trail where RUNNERS WILL NEED TO WALK 1 mile up a scenic dirt road to the start.  Don't worry, it's not that bad, plus...it's a great warm up to the start and worth every step!

The COURSE

Half Marathoners will enjoy the same downhill drop along the 2nd half of the full marathon.  Runners will NOT run through the Snoqualmie Tunnel since it is in the beginning of the marathon course, however the second half of the race is just as scenic and beautiful and the first half.

THE GEAR

Because this course is on a gravel road we suggest that you do not even attempt to run barefoot or run in minimalist shoes.  There are many light-weight trail shoes and many road shoes that will work fine on this course.  Since you will not be passing through the tunnel, you do not need a headlamp or flashlight as the full marathoners do.
