This was the most beautiful course I have ever seen. It will be hard to top this one!

Packet pick up was smooth. It was tough to choose between the tank and the short sleeved shirts though. Then we checked out the finish line and saw the flag of my home state...that was a nice touch. After that, we were off to find the start line and where my hubs would drop me off for my race. We parked and took a short walk to find the tunnel. It was so cool (literally) that we could feel the cold air from it before we could see it.

Parking on race day was easy. There were park bathrooms and plenty of port o potties. There was a staggered start to ensure no bottlenecks at the tunnel. This was my first time running through a tunnel and it was great. Running in the cool darkness and then emerging to breathtaking views of beautiful mountains and trees was quite a treat! The course was so scenic and beautiful from start to finish! There were miles markers for the entire race for both the marathon and half marathon. The volunteers were so amazing too! Even though the course is downhill, it was still plenty challenging. I found myself being a little extra cautious in those final miles to avoid stumbling over the rocks....after 23 or so miles, just lifting the feet became challenging. The finisher's medals are awesome. I love seeing the sunlight shine through it. I even took mine for a sightseeing photo shoot. Oh, I also love the gear bags. I used mine the very next day when I was visiting a state park. Finally the food and drink selection at the finish line was great too. I especially enjoyed the pasta salad.

This race was incredible and absolutely lightning fast!

I ran an 11-minute marathon PR from a 2:37 down to a 2:26 and felt better throughout the race than I have in any previous marathons I have run. The course is beautiful, the descent is perfectly gradual, and the tunnel and terrain are unique- if you're looking for a memorable experience, this is the perfect choice. Make sure to sign up early, you will not regret the decision.

My first marathon…

This was my first marathon and now I’m hooked! I’m a marathoner. Everything was so well organized, it eased my nerves and allowed me to just focus on my run. I loved the camaraderie of the other runners and the encouragement along the way from volunteers and posted signs. The scenery kept me engaged and excited the whole way through.

Thank you for running such a wonderful event. My first marathon could have easily been my last but instead it’s just the first of many. To Boston and beyond!

This was my first full marathon. It was the most beautiful race I've participated in and such a terrific experience! I thought everything was well organized, the course was great (never had to get on a road even), and everyone was so friendly and helpful. I plan to make this an annual event! P.S. The tunnel rocked! -Kim

Good morning!
Thank you for an incredible race! After running your half-marathon last year, my brother and sister encouraged me to run it this year, and it was spectacular! All of your volunteers and race coordinators should be commended for a job well done.

I loved all of the mile markers. Thank you!

This was a beautiful course, and you did a great job of keeping us informed from registration through the race finish. I’d highly recommend this race.

Thank you - Kim

This was marathon #13 for me and my favorite that I've finished.  You can't overstate how amazing it is to run through a 2 mile tunnel and exit it to such breathtaking scenery.  However, I can't believe that I'm going to say this but going downhill the whole time was too much for me.  Started off very fast but just couldn't keep up the pace with the extra pounding on my legs.

Thanks for putting on such a good race!
Shane

The Jack & Jill Half Marathon was the most incredible Half I have run to date! While I have run some pretty incredible courses (i.e., Napa, Santa Barbara, Zion), the Jack & Jill course exceeded expectations. Running through Iron Horse State Park was such a treat with its gorgeous trees, stunning scenery and incredible bridges. Additionally, the small "boutique" size of the race made it so enjoyable and peaceful. The mostly downhill and flat course also made for a great race time for me... and a new PR! I would love to do this race again and would highly recommend it to others.

Thanks, Jill

This has been the most beautiful race by far this running season ( 5/6 since Seattle marathon 2016). Having to use a headlamp through the 2.3 mile Tunnel made it the most interesting and fun race I've run yet. Highly recommended marathon! -Lisa C

I traveled from St. Louis to run this race. Scenery was unbelievable. Course was flat, fast, and well marked. There was a perfect amount of water stations. Just all around a great race. Thinking I may have to return in the future for the full marathon. - Jennifer H
